Cozzi Consulting Group, Burr Ridge, III., has announced an agreement with O’Brien Recycling Corp., Franklin Park, III., to manage the sales operation of its ferrous scrap metal business.

O’Brien Recycling Corp., established in 1997, is a full-service scrap metal recycler handling predominantly prompt industrial scrap. The agreement calls for Cozzi to “manage all sales initiatives and activities related to O’Brien’s ferrous scrap metal business,” according to a news release from the Cozzi Group.

Scrap industry veteran Albert Cozzi remarked, “We are pleased to enter this business partnership with O’Brien and to be aligned with Chicagoland’s fastest growing quality full-service metal recycler.”

O’Brien Recycling employs more than 50 people at its two facilities—a scrap yard and a nonferrous warehouse that are both located in Franklin Park. The two facilities process 50,000 tons of ferrous and 25 million pounds of nonferrous scrap each year. Additionally, the company recycles more than 12 million pounds of plastic and paper annually.

“We look forward to working closely with such well respected names as the Cozzis,” says George C. O’Brien III, president of O’Brien Recycling Corp. “Cozzi brings extensive industry and sales experience, allowing for the development of targeted and innovative sales strategies designed to enhance our industry reputation and increase our client base.”

The Cozzi Consulting Group is a sales and management consulting firm started by former Cozzi Iron & Metal and Metal Management Inc. executive Albert Cozzi and other members of the Cozzi family. The firm specializes in the marketing of scrap metal, paper and plastic.

According to Albert Cozzi, Cozzi Consulting Group “helps manufacturers, demolition contractors, scrap companies and other generators of scrap products maximize the value of their recyclables stream.
